The First Scout We had a little history lesson at our Beaver Start Camp at Camp McLean on the weekend of September 21-23, 2001. The theme of this camp was History of Scouting and during our "practise campfire" on Friday night I asked the Beavers if they could tell me the name of the First Scout. After a few seconds of silence a small voice piped up saying "Kirby?" I corrected the youth and let him know that Kirby may have been the "second" Scout but not the first.
