Need help with your youths & your program?
There is someone available to show you the way. Contact your Group Commissioner or another member of our service team. These people are not there by accident. They've weathered more than a few storms in their time, and your situation is likely just a "rerun" for them. They may not be able to come save your meeting tonight, however, they have the contacts and know-how to assist you to be up and running a good program.
Our service team; they are our valued resource people.   Use them!
Three Secrets Of Recruiting   (parent helpers & potential leaders)
   1) Personally identify & approach someone to do a specific job or task.
When you provide specific parameters, you remove most of that 'scary unknown' and make it safe for someone to say 'yes'.
   2) Show your appreciation.  Sometimes just a sincere word of thanks can make all the difference.
   3) When someone offers to help, find a way to make it happen.  Follow up and utilize their efforts & talents.  People rarely offer twice, and many people will talk for years about how they made an offer and no one cared.
Three 3 Methods Of Retaining Both Youth & Adults
   1) Make sure they feel they have some control over their programing.
   2) Help them feel that they belong; that someone cares if they show up or not.
   3) Linking activities / meetings with other age-sections or same age. Help them
discover the fun of the next levels, & of others in the same section.
Two Rules For Meetings & Camps    (in the interest of keeping it simple)
   1) Fun and Learning for Everyone.
   2) Don't get your parents or leaders in trouble!  (see rule #1)
Challenges Within Your Leadership Team?
One possible solution to a disagreement is for everyone to review their contract; the adult registration form we all signed. This contract specifies certain behaviors, and the easiest way to determine if you are all "keeping your word" is to review your Scouter Promise and the Scout Law.
(Scouter Promise is the same as the Scout Promise)   "On my honour......."

Scout Promise:
On my honour,
I promise that I will do my best,
to do my duty to God & the Queen,
to help other people at all times,
and to carry out the spirit of the Scout Law.

The Scout Law:
A Scout is
helpful & trustworthy,
kind & cheerful,
considerate & clean,
wise in the use of all resources.
